Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is an upcoming title in the Spyro series and will be the first in the Skylanders spin-off series, being published by Activision. The game will be developed by Toys For Bob for the Wii, XPEC Entertainment for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows, and Vicarious Visions for the Nintendo 3DS. The non-Wii releases are overseen by Toys For Bob.

All of the Characters in Skylanders have a backstory, but at some point they all met at the Skylands and decided to team up to defend the beautiful land from all evils. The army of the Skylands, the Skylanders, defended it for centuries until an evil named Kaos invaded the Skylands and banished the Skylanders to our world as toys. The player must send the Skylanders back into their world in order to defeat Kaos.

The game is a mixed-genre game that features the amazing ability to "teleport" "inter-action" figures into the game to become playable characters via. a machine called the portal of power. The players figures save all progress that they've made. Characters also have different element based attacks. The game is an edition in the Spyro series.

Reception Edit

Even though still in development, the game already has received harsh negative criticism, mostly from fans of the Spyro series. Common complaints include the character design of Spyro, lack of well-known Spyro characters from previous titles, the concept of using toys, the younger target audience, having to buy all 32 toys to fully experience the game, and for being another reboot. As evident in IGN's video of Spyro's character trailer on YouTube, many fans believe the game will be an utter failure upon release.[1] Many fans have even sent hate mail and death threats to Activision and Toys For Bob in an attempt to stop development of the game. Despite all of this, Activision has ignored the pleas of the fans in order to focus on Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure's younger audience.

According to the Sterne Agee analyst, Arvind Bathia, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is testing apparently very well with kids, who are the game's target audience.[2]
