Animalese is the language of the NPCs (non-playable characters) in the Animal Crossing series. Every letter spoken is stated to synthesize the letter's basic sound, which makes some words mispronounced. For example, "Animal Crossing" is pronounced "Ah-n-ih-m-ah-l C-r-o-s-s-ih-n-g. However, saying numbers, laughing, and a few other things in Animalese can be understood easily. Animalese is tranlated to the voice of the player (English, Japanese, etc.) by the text bubble at the bottom of the screen.
Different personalities, like Cranky and Snooty, have different pitches. Also, all special characters, like Wendell, have different pitches. And finally, the voices are different depending on emotion, just like in real life. For example, if an NPC is sad, then their voice in Animalese will be really slow.
- Professor E. Gadd's voice was inspired by Animalese.
